Top 10 Anticipated PlayStation 2015 Releases

yahoo.com
As the end of the year approaches, I will often look back and think of the games that made me react as if I were watching Titanic with a carton of ice cream and a box of puppies. I understand that there may be a few games that will be left off on the list (such as Doom or Hell Blade). Also, most of the games on the list will not all be PlayStation exclusives. Sue me. Without further ado, nerds and nerdettes; I present to you my top ten most anticipated PlayStation games of 2015.

#10 Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Developer: Naughty Dog
Platforms: PS4
When you think about the PlayStation brand, one of the franchises that should pop into your head is Uncharted. I’ve always been fond of our beloved hero Nathan Drake as he goes off onto his globetrotting adventures. When it was first debuted at 2014 E3 as a next-gen exclusive, my jaw dropped and I shouted for joy. Not only is the gameplay more cinematic (shown at last week Video Game Awards’s), but the amount of detail Naught Dog was able to extract from Sony’s super console is astounding from a visual point of view. Anyone who owns a PS4 is sure to pick up a copy. Will this be Drakes final adventure?

#9 Batman: Arkham Knight
Developer: Rocksteady
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
“It can’t be done” is what every gamer in the world was saying to themselves back in 2009 when Batman: Arkham Asylum was announced. Five years later a franchise has been born. Not only did developer Rockstady proved that comic book hero game adaptations were possible, but that if done right other franchises would try to mimic the same formula. Set one year later after the events of Arkham City **SPOILER** the demise of the joker; Scarecrow returns accompanied by his side-kick Arkham Knight to unleash hell on Gotham. Aside from the visuals batman will be equipped with new gadgets along with the Batmobile. Not only will the Batmobile be used as another means of getting around the city but, it will play a role in the sleeker combat and solving puzzles.
Release: June 2, 2015 ǀ ESRB M

#8 Loadout
Developer: Edge of Reality
Platforms: PS4, PC
If Team Fortress and Looney Tunes made a baby, Loadout would be the end result. Starting out as a PC beta exclusive, this over the top shooter proved that it could contend with the big-dogs (Call of Duty, Battlefield). It’s refreshing to see a title differentiate itself from the serious military style shooters, and have fun not taking itself serious. Being able to have the ability to frag enemies with a severed arm and one leg is sounds gruesome, but is quite comical when presented to you during gameplay. I look forward to playing it with an actual controller come December 16th. Also, it’s free to play for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

#7 Street Fighter V
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: PS4, PC
Here comes a new challenger folks! Yes!! It is coming and it is exclusive. I think I can speak for every fighting game fan out there, and fan boys when I say that when Street Fighter V was announced at the VGA’s that is was coming to the PS4 console only (let’s not forget the PC), some shade was thrown. Not much is known about the newest entry in the series except that PS4 and PC owners would be able to HADUKEN it out with each other. Until the game ships fans will have stay stuck with Ultra Street fighter IV… which will also be coming to the PS4!
Release: TBA  ǀ ESRB M

#6 Dying Light
Developer: Techland
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Come on, admit it, you’ve asked yourself “if zombies were real what would be the best way to dispose of them”? No, ok maybe that was just me. Dying Light contains a dynamic day and night cycle. During the day, the player has to go out and scavenge the city for supplies. At this time the Infected (aka zombies) are slow, apathetic, and easily visible. With the most versatile movement I’ve ever witnessed in a first person game (sorry Mirrors Edge) getting around whether on foot or jumping from the Infected head, traversal is satisfyingly effortless. Its not until the sun goes down is where the game gets really interesting. At night the infected take the predatory approach sprinting, jumping and climbing buildings (basically the ability to do everything the player can do).
Release: January 27, 2015 ǀ ESRB M

#5 Bloodborne
Developer: From Software
Platforms: PS4
Who said you had to be able to complete a game in order to have fun with it? I never had the luxury to complete From Software’s Dark Souls, but it instantly became one of my favorite games of last-gen just because in enjoyed watching my friend get angry while playing it. Apparently there are gamers out there who have the skills and patience to play arguably one of the hardest games. While playing Dark Souls you've thought to yourself “wow, I wish this game was easier”, BloodBorne has you covered. I could write a whole article on the similarities of the two games, but in a nutshell the combat in Bloodborne is much faster paced which required more of an offensive approach. Hack and slash at its finest. Also, if you really get into a jam co-op is available.
Release: March 24, 2015  ǀ ESRB M

#4 The Order: 1866
Developer: Ready at Dawn
Platforms: PS4
Whether you argue that The Order: 1866 is a generic shooter or that it’s nothing but quick time events, you can’t deny that the visuals are insane. Being that it’s Ready at Dawn's first ever console title, you can’t help but be concerned. For those of you who don’t know, this certain developer only handled PSP titles. One of the most unique gaming experiences I ever had was playing Heavy Rain on the PS3. Yes, the game was very scripted with just button prompts, but the story and constant interaction during key moments is what kept me intrigued. I want this game to succeed. I tend to think of this game like Heavy Rain with third person shooter mechanics, which is not a bad thing.
Release: February 20, 2015 ǀ ESRB M

#3 Just Cause 3
Developer: Avalanche Studios
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Who wouldn’t like parachuting out of an exploding plane, using a grappling hook (on top of a moving car) and landing safely while getting rewarded all at the same time? Set in the Mediterranean, the size of the map in this entry does not only allow you to explore by land, sea, and air, but allows you to explore subterranean caverns as well. Developer Avalanche Studios have stated that because of the new hardware all of the jagged edges that plagued Just Cause 2 in 2010 will be smoothed out way more this time around, including a more serious and less cliché story mode. A multiplayer mode will be included post launch, can’t wait.
Release: 2015 ǀ ESRB M

#2 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Developer: Kojima Productions
Platforms: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
For those of you who don’t know, The Phantom Pain answers questions post Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. After the events of Ground Zeros (Prologue) and the destruction of Militaires Sans Frontieres, our hero Punished Snake (Big Boss) slips into a coma. Nine years later he awakens and forms a new mercenary group, Diamond Dogs (goodbye Foxhound). He then ventures into Afghanistan to track the person responsible for the destruction of MSF. Along the way, Snake is accompanied by his former rival Revolving Ocelot and his combat buddy Kaz Miller. Throughout the years, mastermind Hideo Kojima has demonstrated gameplay displaying mechanics new to the series. New mechanics such as the reflex system, an ability that slows down time when Snake, is spotted by the enemy. Driving, horseback riding is also a first since the game is an open world. The Fulton and the knocking (via Snake’s prosthetic hand) are also making a return, both absent in Ground Zeros. Throw in a robust competitive multiplayer and I say you have an excuse to call out of work for a few days.

#1 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Developer: CD Projekt RED
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
While everyone was busy spending countless hours on Elder Scrolls V: Syrim back in 2011, I was busy playing The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. Never before was I so excited to play an RPG. Eye-melting graphics, responsive controls, and an interesting adult story about love, politics, revenge, and redemption caused me to get lost in a world I never knew existed. Developer CD Projekt RED aims to set the bar for Wild Hunt by bringing the series for the first time into open world territory. I was a little saddened to find out that the developer pushed the release date from February to May. This is forgiven being that this will conclude our hero Geralt of Rivia’s story.

Game Review, Evil Within

evileithinwikia.com

You might be familiar with this game and its content since the same creator of the Resident Evil series-Shinji Mikami supplied his great mind as the game’s director.  The game was developed by Tango Gameworks and released by Bethesda Softworks. The game is available for both PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles.

But that’s enough with the specs, let’s get right into the story base of this game. This puts you in the third person perspective and you take the lead as Detective Castellanos. All you know in the beginning is that you are going to the hospital where all the crazy just explodes into your reality. Without dropping any major plot twists and spoilers, EVERYTHING hits the fan and you are left in a world of despair trying to survive.

This world gives you little to start with. It’s just one of those things where it leaves you wondering if you should run, hide, or fight while looking and picking up ANYTHING that may help you on your conquest to survive; so you can get the answers to your questions on what the heck is going on?!

evilwithinwikia.com
This game is brilliant. The mechanics of it could be very confusing at first until you are used to what is going, but I’m telling you, once you get used to one environment and the way of surviving it almost feels like things changed on you.  The environment, the monsters and the puzzles that just leave you screaming at your tv screen, because you are doing your best to play it “safe”.
Even some of the boss battles or major events before clearing the stage will surely give you nightmares, or at least wishing you had a unicorn to tell jokes with before bedtime so you are less scaredy cat while lying in bed.

Now one of the things I enjoy about this game IS the ever changing scenes. It almost feels like you are in a whole new game and if you think 2 chapters prior to where you are now you wouldn't believe it was.
playstationlifestlye.net
Another thing that I liked about this particular survival horror game it does give you room to improve and give you skill sets to modify as you progress.  One of the items you randomly pick up are these green jars of goop or as I like to say “brain juice”, because when you find a mirror it will take you to a spot of the hospital where you are able to upgrade your weapons, ammo and abilities. This is also where you will be saving most of your game play and unlocking items in the morgue…morbid, I know but once you see the setting you will understand.
gamefaqs.com
Which if I give you any advice on upgrading on any skill set to upgrade first in the beginning it would be your SPRINT. Just trust me on this because there will be a lot of areas where you will rely on this less noticeable skill set and you don’t want to be huffing and puffing after 3 seconds while some big ole baddie comes up behind you and gives you a death hug.

Also while the main reason of going through each chapter is to take care of the big villain(Ruvik) who brought you into the world of Safe head Monsters and Floor Monsters that Death hug you from the floor, this game also allows you to get to know Sebastian Castellanos. Throughout the game you are picking up random notes or case files that give you and insight into his life. Which is such a sad story in itself if you have time to really absorb it in, but I love games that make you feel for the character you are playing as, like what drives him and how or why he is that way.

There is so much more to this game besides throwing bottles at water monsters and disarming loot crates. This game has a bit of depth that some survival horror games lack. The story is a powerful one since it has many tied into one. It leaves you thinking and it pushes the gears in your mind to see how well you react to certain aspects in this type of survival game.

If you want jump scares, brain inducing exercise, and the thrill of what is waiting for you to fight around that corner, then this game is for you.
polygon.com
Take your time going through something like this. I don’t see this as a nonstop marathon of game play for the next 24 hours because then you will miss so many details for when you reach the end of the game it will leave you shouting at the screen because you won’t “get it”.

This is the type of game that if you do take your time you will be rewarded with a satisfactory end to a fan-frightening story and game. I give this 4 out of 5 Brain Juice jars!

Game Review-Risen 3

Release Date: August 12, 2014
Reviewed For: PS3, Xbox 360, PC
Reviewed On: PC
December 8, 2014
google.com
Risen 3 is a game that gives you the liberty to indulge into a vast story. It’s an action based role playing game that allows you different combat experience. Be that magic or melee combat, all are found in Risen 3.
google.com
Story:
In this game, you play the role of a nameless hero who is a pirate. In the search for plunder, he goes into the temple and fall prey to shadow-lord causing him to die. But he gets back to mortal form after a mysterious man named Bones resurrected him. He comes to know his soul has been separated from his body and he soon will become the minion of shadow lords. However, he can merge his soul with the help of factions and their powerful mages.

google.com
Presentation:
This game doesn’t give you great graphical experience. It’s still decent enough to make the environment look gorgeous. The world is huge with different islands for you to visit. You discover many secrets on your way and collect hidden treasure that helps you build your character to face your final challenge. Different mystical and natural beasts roam the world to take you down. On my play-through, I discovered the world of this game to be more dangerous than its previous edition. It’s completely uncertain what awaits you in the next step of your journey. So, you better be prepared to survive.

There are three different factions for you to join. Later, you lead them to come together as a strong unit. Though you have the liberty to join one faction only, each of their mages can help you cleanse your soul. Even if you don’t join them, the leader of the demon hunter faction teaches a unique spell that will destroy the gate to underworld located at skull cave.
There are many NPCs scattered in the world for you to communicate, sell/purchase, learn skills and magic from, and play side quests and challenges. Engaging in dialogue with them allows you to choose moral options. Choosing the good or bad dialogue will determine how close you are to becoming a minion of the underworld.

Gameplay:
Risen 3 is an open world game that allows you to explore. Thousands of side quests are there for you to find and play in the order you choose. There is a significant change made in their overall combat system with the inclusion of magic.

Combat:
Melee combat in Risen 3 is fluid enough and enjoyable. You can block, roll and counter your opponents to beat them. You can use a variety of weapons by either finding them from the world or purchasing from blacksmiths or creating one by yourself. If the sword is not your thing then go for shotguns and muskets.
Last but not the least; you also can use a handgun to shoot your opponent weak with a single key when fighting with swords.

google.com
As I mentioned earlier, this game adds magic combat. You can learn many magic spells from mages of different factions. If you are lucky, you might find some spells while roaming the world. From turning into a parrot or to unleashing fire from the sky, all this and more you can use in Risen 3.

Though not in large scale it also has naval combat scenarios in different chapters of the game.
google.com

Stealth:
Stealth skill is a major aspect of this game. It’s your best interest to learn how to pickpocket, crouch and the lock picking skill from this category early in the game.
Should you feel ashamed of stealing items yourself, you have monkey skill at disposal. Spawn a monkey and make it do your dirty work.

google.com
Companion:
You have the privilege to ask one of your crews from the ship to accompany you while exploring. They have different skills, and each of them has a very distinctive way of helping you. For instance, Bones can heal you in combat and Jafar will loot the treasures for you that ensures you wouldn’t miss any of them.

google.com

In addition, each of them will give you a different idea about an island that might help you understand the look of the Island before you anchor.
google.com
Fast travel to Islands and in-islands:
Your ship allows to fast travel to Islands. But travelling to different places in the Islands is different. There are portals scattered in the Islands. You have to insert a crystal plate to activate it. Once activated, you can fast travel to other locations.

google.com
Conclusion:
This game is attractive in its gameplay and vast world. All the features of RPG game are present in Risen 3. If you are a RPG lover, it’s certainly a game for you to choose.

google.com

Time To Get Hyped: Street Fighter 5 Is Coming

digitalspy.com
Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling right now. This weekend at Sony's PlayStation Experience Event, Capcom "officially" announced that Street Fighter 5 was coming. Technically, Capcom let the trailer leak out to the public the day before their announcement. But screw it, STREET FIGHTER 5 IS COMING!!!! The other big news was that the game would be exclusively on PS4 and PC which is very surprising. But whichever day you found out about it, this is so awesome.
digitalspy.com
I've been a longtime Street Fighter fan going back to Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition on the old Sega Genesis. So, when I saw the trailer I lost my mind just like many others on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. Just thinking about the series brought back fond memories of playing on the Genesis. There’s the first time I saw the arcade version of Street Fighter Alpha at the old Lincoln Village Cinema in Chicago or finding out that Street Fighter was coming back in 2007. There are so many more stories and memories I can share about the franchise.
digitalspy.com
One of the things that stood out to me seeing that trailer was seeing how passionate people are not just about the game, but about the Street Fighter culture itself. Gamers from across the world showing their love and appreciation for the series, whether it's through competition, through cosplay, art and music, and so many other platforms. That's what I love about this series because it connects people more than any other gaming series out there. Even when it was dead for so many years, people still played it, and that's a testament to how loyal gamers are to this franchise.
digitalspy.com
With Street Fighter 5 coming, I'm hoping that they add more characters from Alpha, E.X., and 3rd Strike plus a few new characters to the mix. Whenever a game comes out, you know I'll be spending countless hours playing online and having fun. I'm so hyped!
