Age of Ultron

www.google.com
I think we all know who Ultron is. And it you don't, you must be living under a very large rock, in a super deep cave, on another planet because Ultron is everywhere. Toys, books, TV, and who doesn't love James Spader. His voice alone can scare you, compel you and then make you want to team up with him because he's James Spader. He was the original Daniel Jackson (and if you don't know who that is, you have a lot of tv to catch up on).

But enough about that.

Who here knows the comics? I can personally say I've never read the Marvel 10 issue comic series with the original story line;  but I know it has a lot more meat to it.  As in way more characters that we will never see grace the big screen together in the same awesomesauce movie. The Marvel universe is just too large and vast to ever see them all together.

Who do you wish had been added to Ultron who was in the comic series?

I think the Avengers with the X-Men on one screen would have made every nerd squeal in delight.

But alas, that is too much awesome for any movie studio to attempt. Plus that trickiness of different

studios owning different franchise rights.

Where is Loki to mess things up when you need him here?

Comics in the series:

TBT: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2

Thoughts On Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
playstationlifestyle.net
So the other day, Complex magazine put out a list of the 25 Best Playstation 1 Video Games of all time. And while looking through the list I saw the usual suspects on any list of best PS1 games (Twisted Metal, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, etc.), but there was one game on the list that I completely forgot about and insulted that I forgot about it was Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (THPS2). Out of all the sports games I’ve played, The Pro Skater series were my absolute favorite games to play, but it was Tony Pro Skater 2 that really got me into the series.
giantbomb.com
THPS2 came out on September 20th, 2000. Now I’d be lying to you if I said that around that time I was a huge pro skateboarding fan because I really wasn’t.  I had no idea that pro skateboarding really existed and who Tony Hawk was until I started watching the X Games, more specifically the 1999 Summer X Games. I watched Tony Hawk land The 900 (900-degree spin) and that was the most amazing feat I ever witnessed on television. Yeah it took eleven attempts to pull it off, but I don’t care, it was still an amazing sight to see. That moment made me a fan of the sport so when THPS2 came out the following year, I was hooked.

whatculture.com
The game featured open-ended gameplay (a series trademark in all the Pro Skater games) in which you picked a pro skater or created skater of your own, and complete a series of challenges/missions that results in cash rewards. There are also certain tasks within those missions that you have to find and complete. For example, one task involves finding a hidden videotape that’s located somewhere on a specific level. Another example would have you finding letters that spell out S-K-A-T-E. Another awesome feature that was added to the game is the ability to create your own level called park editor and that was one of the many features that stand out in THPS2.
amazon.com
The Tony Hawk Pro Skater series was a game changer in sports gaming that was dominated by the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, and Pro Wrestling. THPS2 stands out to me as one of the best sports games in history because it featured amazing gameplay, excellent controls that made the skating experience in the game awesome, and it featured a cool soundtrack that was a staple in all the Pro Skater games. I’m still insulted that I forgot about this game because I had put in tons of hours playing this game and I have such fond memories of it.

Transformers, What Could Be Next?

Maximize or Terrorize
wikiepedia.com
Transformers have been around since 1984 and along the way have seen many toys, cartoons, games, and more recently movies. Michael Bay created an interesting story with the history of transformers which has intrigued me and I’m sure having captured the imagination of many. Having watched the recent 4th movie last summer I am left to wonder what is next in this series. So this article is a few thoughts on what I would like to see in the next outing.
In the most recent movie Transformers: Age of Extinction  towards the end you see that Optimus must team up with the Legendary Knights Grimlock, Strafe, Slug, and Scorn to defeat Galvatron and his army. As you noticed these legendary knights were dinosaur transformers known as dinobots.  Grimlock a Tyrannosaurus Rex, led the group and is a very rough and tough individual with a fight now worry about consequences later attitude.  He expected a high fighting standard amongst his warriors. Strafe is a two-headed Pteranodon is a fierce merciless combatant in the field but off the field he is both approachable and friendly of the four. Slug is a Triceratops and is very technically minded. He, however, has a raging temper that makes him stubborn and reckless of others. He has a deep respect for Grimlock and will follow his lead in any mission. Lastly Scorn, going by the nickname spike, is a spinosaurus. He is a demolition specialist and is practically impossible to take down because of his massive size. These four make up the Knights in which we see in the film. These characters, though they had minor cameos, give me hope for what could be next and with a new director for the 5th film, could go in a completely different direction then any of us could have foreseen. This brings me to what I would like to see for this next movie.
In 1996 there aired a cartoon that I absolutely loved and I also owned almost every toy that came out for it. I also owned the pc game which was one of the slowest games to run on my parents’ computer. This show is a relative of the Dinobots introduced in 1984 and would go on for 3 seasons. This television show was Beast Wars Transformers.
Link to Beast Wars Introduction - http://youtu.be/1FKpU0pnne8
tfwiki.net
Beast Wars harnessed the forms of animals after landing on a planet that later is thought to be Earth. They take on animal and fossil forms of life to protect their bodies from a material called energon.  The two factions are known as maximals and predacons, essentially autobots and decepticons. Watching this show more recently on DVD, I have come to appreciate the story and characters more than I did when I was a kid. Which got me thinking, why not make a Beast Wars movie, either somehow lead up to it or do a spinoff of the current movies? They already used the legendary Knights as well as a character that was in the second movie, Scorponok. Scorponok was second in command next to Megatron in Beast Wars and was very loyal to him. This brings me to the cast of characters from the television show that could be utilized as cast members.
This is the list of all the characters they could potentially use or reuse if they were to make a movie based off of the animated show.
news.zing.vn

Maximals
Optimus Primal – Silver Back Gorilla – Leader of Maximals
Rhinox – Rhinoceros – Second in command
Rattrap – Rat – Stealth and demolitions expert
Cheetor – Cheetah – Missions specialist
Predacons
Megatron – Tyrannosaurus Rex – Leader of Predacons
Scorponok – Scorpion - Second in command
Tarantulas – Tarantula – Technology expert
Terrorsaur – Red Pteranodon – Aerial Combat Expert
Waspinator – Wasp – Informant/Messanger
Transformers who switched teams
Dinobot – Velociraptor – Warrior with strict code of honor. Was Predacon turned Maximal
Blackarachnia – Black Widow Spider – Fighting & venom expert. Predacon turned Maximal
Silverbolt – Fuzor- part Gray Wolf, part Golden Eagle – Noble warrior – Predacon turned Maximal – Also came later in the series
Transformers who came later
Maximals:
Tigatron – White Tiger – Peaceful & wise scout
Airazor – Peregrine Falcon – Air Scout
Tigerhawk –White Tiger & Peregrine Falcon – Were created from Tigatron & Airazor
Depth Charge – Manta Ray – Rouge Warrior after Rampage –
Predacons:
Inferno – Fire Ant – Defender of the colony
Quickstrike – Fuzor – part Scorpion, part Cobra – Paralysis and venom expert
Rampage – Crab – Tank weapons expert fleeing Depth Charge
Dinobot II – Velociraptor – Clone of Dinobot and loyal to Megatron
As you can see there is quite a cast and this is only the Beast wars animated series. There was also a second animated series called Beast Machines that aired after Beast Wars that had some new and old members. Both of these series had interesting plot lines that I would love to see on the big screen.
This could also possibly be a prequel to the series because in Beast Wars animated series the Maximals come across two, what are called Protohumans, named Chak and Una. The Maximals rescue them from the Predacons who start fire to there surroundings. The leader Neanderthal recognizes and trusts the Maximals since Dinobot saved his life. This episode shows us the first contact, transformers had with post-humans. This leaves for a potential movie or movies that could lead up to the modern day of meeting Sam Witwicky.
Weather the new movie follows the vehicles and modern tech transformers or utilizes a different realm of robots in disguise I hope that it holds true to the transformers universe. As Maximals would say before they transform, “Maximize!” let’s think what would best maximize our imaginations and push this series forward.
I leave with this quote: “Until that day…till all are one,” A dying Optimus from Transformers: The Movie (1986).  We look forward until the day that next movie will bring us together.
As always #keepitnerdy

Flash Back Friday: Stargate Atlantis

Ancients, Wraiths, Love, Adventure - Should Have Continued

wikia.com
Do you ever sit flipping through the channels wishing something would catch your eye? And think fondly of the days your screen was filled with good science fiction? I was having one of those days and I was very grateful for DVD box sets. It was time for a long overdue binge of watching, Stargate Atlantis.

I miss the days of waiting for a new episode of any Stargate franchise show. My husband got me hooked on Stargate SG1 back when we were dating and it was an ever constant in our lives from day 1. We spent many evening watching the antics of the SG1 crew. Stargate Atlantis was a great addition to the Stargate universe and I flip flop daily on which one is my favorite (Stargate Universe deserves its own article considering the awful cliffhanger the show ended on).

wikia.com
I love the unknown you felt watching Stargate Atlantis. John Shepard, Teyla, Rodney McKay, and Ronon (played by Joe Flannigan, Rachel Luttrell, David Hewlett, and Jason Momoa) were the heart and soul of the cast. We got to see some familiar faces from SG1 like Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge; which made us want to rewtch SG1 all over again.

I think I'll have to write up my favorites from each show and seasons. But here is a great look back at Stargate Atlantis and how much it is missed.
