Natural progression dictates that everything about The Big Bang Theory would change over time. And it has. The relationships have had their ups and downs. The guys have discovered, explored, left the Earth, abandoned String Theory, and terrorized each other…but there was always a courteous hot tea waiting. The one thing in the show that has always been a constant was Mrs. Wolowitz.
Until recently, Howard dutifully took care of his mother in his home with minimal complaining (maybe not minimal). After he and Bernadette decided that couldn’t handle the demands any longer, a run-down and broke Stewart was there to take the reins. And just when Mrs. Wolowitz’s character takes on a new dimension with Stewart, the show loses the actress with one of the most iconic voices of this decade.
As viewers, we knew that a scene in her home would always come with a certain amount of yelling, but after a time, it was endearing. I’ve heard that woman yell for her son (“HOWARD,” but more recently “STEWART”) so many times, that I will probably always be able to recall her voice.
Actress Carol Ann Susi, the brash and beloved actress from the The Big Bang Theory has died after a battle with cancer. She was 62 years young.
Unless you remember her in Cheers, Mad About You, or Seinfeld, it’s unlikely that you even know what she looks like (unless you are like me and Googled her one evening when you just had to know who she was). The only part of Carol viewers got to experience was her loud, gruff voice on the CBS comedy.
"The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today," the show's executive producers said in a statement following her death Tuesday. Her publicist described her as a spunky Italian, passionate about Halloween horror mazes and cooking.
Carol Ann Susi, Mrs. Wolowitz, you will be missed. You have entered the hearts of many fans and will not be easily forgotten.
