Time To Get Hyped: Street Fighter 5 Is Coming

Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling right now. This weekend at Sony's PlayStation Experience Event, Capcom "officially" announced that Street Fighter 5 was coming. Technically, Capcom let the trailer leak out to the public the day before their announcement. But screw it, STREET FIGHTER 5 IS COMING!!!! The other big news was that the game would be exclusively on PS4 and PC which is very surprising. But whichever day you found out about it, this is so awesome.

I've been a longtime Street Fighter fan going back to Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition on the old Sega Genesis. So, when I saw the trailer I lost my mind just like many others on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. Just thinking about the series brought back fond memories of playing on the Genesis. There’s the first time I saw the arcade version of Street Fighter Alpha at the old Lincoln Village Cinema in Chicago or finding out that Street Fighter was coming back in 2007. There are so many more stories and memories I can share about the franchise.

One of the things that stood out to me seeing that trailer was seeing how passionate people are not just about the game, but about the Street Fighter culture itself. Gamers from across the world showing their love and appreciation for the series, whether it's through competition, through cosplay, art and music, and so many other platforms. That's what I love about this series because it connects people more than any other gaming series out there. Even when it was dead for so many years, people still played it, and that's a testament to how loyal gamers are to this franchise.

With Street Fighter 5 coming, I'm hoping that they add more characters from Alpha, E.X., and 3rd Strike plus a few new characters to the mix. Whenever a game comes out, you know I'll be spending countless hours playing online and having fun. I'm so hyped!
