Halo
5 Guardians Multiplayer Beta
Wow, can I just say
wow. I don’t think I’ve ever died so much in a game ever.
Let’s start with the
install. The install went pretty smooth except when it hit 44% and lagged there
for about an hour. Once it hit 45%, it was smooth sailing. The game loaded up
right away and off I went to play Halo 5
with some buddies.
The graphics were what
you would expect from a next-gen AAA game. The frame rates were nice and smooth,
no glitches that I could see visually. The new improved sounds were very
realistic, especially the sword of doom (that is what I have decreed it shall be
called). The game now has built in call-out features, such as announcing when a
team mate is shot and the location on the map. This was quite helpful since we died a lot.
The downside. The
control layout is different than the other Halo
games. You now have aim down sights instead of the no scope standard. The
learning curve is high!!! To balance the aiming 343 has made no scoping
stronger. Just from the few rounds I did last night, you need to aim a lot
higher to cause damage. There was also only two maps as of right now, but more
should be opening once the beta goes live to everyone else December 29th.
So bust out those Halo Master Chief Collections so you can
join the beta!
