Nintendo DS Best Dressed Top 5 of 2015

The milkmaids are milking, the lords are a-leaping, and Santa’s sleigh is full of ho-ho-hos. It’s a great time of year to pick out an awesome gift for your awesome nerd… But that’s not all.  If your nerds are anything like me, they’ve already logged 80 plus hours on their DS trying to catchem’ all and are probably more than a little bored by now (not that they’d admit it).  That’s why we’re blessed (or cursed) that 2015 is shaping up to be the biggest year for gaming yet!  Nintendo has an absolutely staggering line-up this year and while I still love Sony (when it comes to mobile gaming), Nintendo is King. So here’s what to look forward to in the coming, 5 dazzling games that are dressed to impress!

#5 Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
Intelligent Systems is the developer of Fire Emblem and Paper Mario, so anytime they announce something it’s bound to get noticed. This gem is a steampunk, turn-based, fantasy that really puts the edge in strategy. The plot is borderline ridiculous, but that’s just part of its charm. I mean who wouldn’t want to join a team of operatives ranging from the Lion from The Wizard Oz, to Tom Sawyer of Mark Twain, and Tiger Lily from Peter Pan. All at the behest of Abraham Lincoln. Why? Because ALIENS that’s why.

#4 Dragon Quest VII
Growing up I played this series with my late father, so it’s a treasured childhood nostalgia. Back then in America it was called Dragon Warrior, and you were a knight that left the castle to save the princess from an evil sorcerer. While that was all very original, this installment has quite a bit more to it. It was originally released on PlayStation and was one of my favorite titles. It seems to be a popular time for this sort of thing, and I couldn’t be happier.  This mobile update offers improved graphics, pacing, and content that was previously unavailable. To those familiar with Final Fantasy and Brave Frontier you’ll feel right at home. But don’t worry; there is tons of time-traveling, monster, magic, and mayhem for everyone.

#3 Mighty No. 9
One might say this is a rip-off of Mega Man. One might be right. All I can say is anything handled by Keiji Inafune is bound to be spectacular. While this game is startlingly similar to a certain series previously mentioned, it looks to be an excellent adventure. The main character, Beck is designed by a kindly Doctor for the good of mankind. Since this is a kick-project, I’m excited to see how well it pairs up to other games of its kind.
Release date: April 2015

#2 Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Available in Japan only at present, this is one of the most popular series on the console and for good reason: It features a unique and diverse crafting system, co-operative play, epic boss fights, and best of all you don’t need to connect to the internet and update every time you want to play! To those familiar with the previous titles there are two new weapon types available and nearly 100 monsters all in all (which is 10 more since the last title). Slaying monsters is a tradition, and this game looks wickedly fun.
Release date: March 31, 2015

#1 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Let me just repeat myself: LEGEND OF ZELDA MAJORA’S MASK! I’ve literally been waiting for this since the original release of the 3DS. Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask are my favorite Zelda installments bar none, and this game is going to be a Smash (heh, get it)! Zelda games are one of the most diverse and interesting adventure games out there – it features puzzle solving, multiple terrains, classical music, extraordinary graphics, and so much more. I don’t think there is a geek out there that doesn’t have a special place in their heart for Zelda. Majora’s Mask is no different.
Release Date: TBA

So there you have it folks, the best-dressed games of 2015. I’m sure the list of releases will pile on as the months pass – but are there any games you want to mention? Any that you disagree with? Inbox us and let us know!

As Always, #keepitnerdy
