Top 10 Anticipated PlayStation 2015 Releases

yahoo.com
As the end of the year approaches, I will often look back and think of the games that made me react as if I were watching Titanic with a carton of ice cream and a box of puppies. I understand that there may be a few games that will be left off on the list (such as Doom or Hell Blade). Also, most of the games on the list will not all be PlayStation exclusives. Sue me. Without further ado, nerds and nerdettes; I present to you my top ten most anticipated PlayStation games of 2015.

#10 Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Developer: Naughty Dog
Platforms: PS4
When you think about the PlayStation brand, one of the franchises that should pop into your head is Uncharted. I’ve always been fond of our beloved hero Nathan Drake as he goes off onto his globetrotting adventures. When it was first debuted at 2014 E3 as a next-gen exclusive, my jaw dropped and I shouted for joy. Not only is the gameplay more cinematic (shown at last week Video Game Awards’s), but the amount of detail Naught Dog was able to extract from Sony’s super console is astounding from a visual point of view. Anyone who owns a PS4 is sure to pick up a copy. Will this be Drakes final adventure?

#9 Batman: Arkham Knight
Developer: Rocksteady
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
“It can’t be done” is what every gamer in the world was saying to themselves back in 2009 when Batman: Arkham Asylum was announced. Five years later a franchise has been born. Not only did developer Rockstady proved that comic book hero game adaptations were possible, but that if done right other franchises would try to mimic the same formula. Set one year later after the events of Arkham City **SPOILER** the demise of the joker; Scarecrow returns accompanied by his side-kick Arkham Knight to unleash hell on Gotham. Aside from the visuals batman will be equipped with new gadgets along with the Batmobile. Not only will the Batmobile be used as another means of getting around the city but, it will play a role in the sleeker combat and solving puzzles.

#8 Loadout
Developer: Edge of Reality
Platforms: PS4, PC
If Team Fortress and Looney Tunes made a baby, Loadout would be the end result. Starting out as a PC beta exclusive, this over the top shooter proved that it could contend with the big-dogs (Call of Duty, Battlefield). It’s refreshing to see a title differentiate itself from the serious military style shooters, and have fun not taking itself serious. Being able to have the ability to frag enemies with a severed arm and one leg is sounds gruesome, but is quite comical when presented to you during gameplay. I look forward to playing it with an actual controller come December 16th. Also, it’s free to play for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

#7 Street Fighter V
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: PS4, PC
Here comes a new challenger folks! Yes!! It is coming and it is exclusive. I think I can speak for every fighting game fan out there, and fan boys when I say that when Street Fighter V was announced at the VGA’s that is was coming to the PS4 console only (let’s not forget the PC), some shade was thrown. Not much is known about the newest entry in the series except that PS4 and PC owners would be able to HADUKEN it out with each other. Until the game ships fans will have stay stuck with Ultra Street fighter IV… which will also be coming to the PS4!

#6 Dying Light
Developer: Techland
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Come on, admit it, you’ve asked yourself “if zombies were real what would be the best way to dispose of them”? No, ok maybe that was just me. Dying Light contains a dynamic day and night cycle. During the day, the player has to go out and scavenge the city for supplies. At this time the Infected (aka zombies) are slow, apathetic, and easily visible. With the most versatile movement I’ve ever witnessed in a first person game (sorry Mirrors Edge) getting around whether on foot or jumping from the Infected head, traversal is satisfyingly effortless. Its not until the sun goes down is where the game gets really interesting. At night the infected take the predatory approach sprinting, jumping and climbing buildings (basically the ability to do everything the player can do).

#5 Bloodborne
Developer: From Software
Platforms: PS4
Who said you had to be able to complete a game in order to have fun with it? I never had the luxury to complete From Software’s Dark Souls, but it instantly became one of my favorite games of last-gen just because in enjoyed watching my friend get angry while playing it. Apparently there are gamers out there who have the skills and patience to play arguably one of the hardest games. While playing Dark Souls you've thought to yourself “wow, I wish this game was easier”, BloodBorne has you covered. I could write a whole article on the similarities of the two games, but in a nutshell the combat in Bloodborne is much faster paced which required more of an offensive approach. Hack and slash at its finest. Also, if you really get into a jam co-op is available.

#4 The Order: 1866
Developer: Ready at Dawn
Platforms: PS4
Whether you argue that The Order: 1866 is a generic shooter or that it’s nothing but quick time events, you can’t deny that the visuals are insane. Being that it’s Ready at Dawn's first ever console title, you can’t help but be concerned. For those of you who don’t know, this certain developer only handled PSP titles. One of the most unique gaming experiences I ever had was playing Heavy Rain on the PS3. Yes, the game was very scripted with just button prompts, but the story and constant interaction during key moments is what kept me intrigued. I want this game to succeed. I tend to think of this game like Heavy Rain with third person shooter mechanics, which is not a bad thing.

#3 Just Cause 3
Developer: Avalanche Studios
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Who wouldn’t like parachuting out of an exploding plane, using a grappling hook (on top of a moving car) and landing safely while getting rewarded all at the same time? Set in the Mediterranean, the size of the map in this entry does not only allow you to explore by land, sea, and air, but allows you to explore subterranean caverns as well. Developer Avalanche Studios have stated that because of the new hardware all of the jagged edges that plagued Just Cause 2 in 2010 will be smoothed out way more this time around, including a more serious and less cliché story mode. A multiplayer mode will be included post launch, can’t wait.

#2 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Developer: Kojima Productions
Platforms: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC
For those of you who don’t know, The Phantom Pain answers questions post Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. After the events of Ground Zeros (Prologue) and the destruction of Militaires Sans Frontieres, our hero Punished Snake (Big Boss) slips into a coma. Nine years later he awakens and forms a new mercenary group, Diamond Dogs (goodbye Foxhound). He then ventures into Afghanistan to track the person responsible for the destruction of MSF. Along the way, Snake is accompanied by his former rival Revolving Ocelot and his combat buddy Kaz Miller. Throughout the years, mastermind Hideo Kojima has demonstrated gameplay displaying mechanics new to the series. New mechanics such as the reflex system, an ability that slows down time when Snake, is spotted by the enemy. Driving, horseback riding is also a first since the game is an open world. The Fulton and the knocking (via Snake’s prosthetic hand) are also making a return, both absent in Ground Zeros. Throw in a robust competitive multiplayer and I say you have an excuse to call out of work for a few days.

#1 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Developer: CD Projekt RED
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
While everyone was busy spending countless hours on Elder Scrolls V: Syrim back in 2011, I was busy playing The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. Never before was I so excited to play an RPG. Eye-melting graphics, responsive controls, and an interesting adult story about love, politics, revenge, and redemption caused me to get lost in a world I never knew existed. Developer CD Projekt RED aims to set the bar for Wild Hunt by bringing the series for the first time into open world territory. I was a little saddened to find out that the developer pushed the release date from February to May. This is forgiven being that this will conclude our hero Geralt of Rivia’s story.
